Toyota Traigo80 2–3.5 tonnes — industrial design for an electric working vehicle
Founder Tomas Jankauskas's portfolio includes interior and exterior design work on this Toyota Material Handling programme. The project brings together the visual identity of an industrial vehicle with the practical needs of operators working indoors and outdoors.
THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
A forklift is a workplace as well as a machine. The operator's view, the arrangement of controls, entry and exit, and access for maintenance all matter alongside the exterior form. The design must communicate strength while remaining understandable and practical in daily use.
PROJECT FOCUS
The existing gallery shows the driver compartment, the cabin-equipped vehicle and battery access. These views explain the relationship between the exterior and the operator's working environment. The range was offered with lithium-ion power, linking the industrial design programme to the move towards electric material handling.
RECOGNITION
Toyota Material Handling Europe reported an iF DESIGN AWARD for the Toyota Traigo80 in 2022. This was recognition of the Toyota product and team; the iF Gold award in the same announcement applied to the separate BT Reflex E-series.
DESIGN EXPERIENCE THAT CARRIES FORWARD
At NeuralDeep, this industrial background informs product concepts, CAD development, prototypes and 3D-printed components. The aim is to connect design decisions with the people who will use, maintain and manufacture the product.
